Press Releases Censored!
Scientific proof that Nicotine Replacement doesn’t work any better than willpower is being suppressed even further now! pr-inside.com which published the damning press release from freedom2choose that made the key facts public a few weeks ago has now suddenly ‘unpublished’ it!
This came to light after the smokers’ rights organisation sent out another message warning about Reduced Ignition Propensity cigarettes, which may cause fewer fires than ordinary ciggies but might be harmful to the smoker. The freedom2choose press officer queried the disappearance of this warning from pr-inside, only to be told:
“Sorry we had to deactivate the press release because we don’t publish tobacco or tobacco-related content.”
Since when? And sure enough, when I looked to see if our earlier press release about the total failure of NHS Stop Smoking Services had suddenly been ‘unpublished’ - yep, that had gone too!
Well we already knew that the scientific proof that nicotine replacement products were a total scam was being pointedly ignored by the major newspapers, but this is the first time the facts have been censored at this level!
Currently the article is still flagged up at hotklix.com, but the link to the full article goes to pr-inside, where you can no longer view it. Currently the whole thing can still be seen at prlog.org but it will be interesting to see if that remains the case.
Obviously the drug companies really, really don’t want the scientific evidence that proves that NRT is a total scam to get into the public domain and become fully understood - and neither do the medical authorities or the Department of Health. Which of them has been leaning on pr-inside.com?
Doesn’t matter really, they’re all in the same gang. And they can muzzle the media to a very great degree apparently. It’s a scandal, just as Allen Carr said it was. It’s a cover up. And we obviously do not have a free press at all. So smokers: take it to the blogs! Warn one another! Spread the word - the Nicotine Tale is a lie!

Apparently it’s back on line now (08/10/2009 14:44) :

Suggestion : have a mirror copy somewhere…
You’re right! Well this is very curious! So they DO publish tobacco-related content! Or do they? Or don’t they?
I think we need to seek clarification over this! More soon!
That wasn’t the article that was pulled. The article that was censored was about the “fire safe cigarettes”. That one is still showing as “error occurred 20″:

Hi Helen,
When I looked for it, it certainly had been pulled! And even if it is published again now, how does that square with their statement to you that they “don’t publish tobacco or tobacco-related content”?
At the time, I checked for both articles. Neither was available at pr-inside when I wrote that post. Interesting, isn’t it? It seems that pr-inside are a little unsure as to what kind of tobacco-related information they want to be associated with. I wonder what - or who - they are afraid of…
I mean: why not just publish all of it, without hesitation? It’s all in the public interest, isn’t it?
I’m aware that both articles had been pulled, I’d checked that as well. It’s very strange that they’ve reinstated one and not the other.
I did query it with them, but they just stated that their policy had not changed.
It certainly is in the public interest and should be published. What sort of press organisation picks and chooses the types of releases to censor?
A nervous one. I must say that since I started this campaign I have been genuinely shocked by the apparent impotence of the supposedly ruthless British press. Clearly they have no hesitation in being ruthless when it comes to individuals with health and personal problems such as Kerry Katona or George Michael, but their collective silence over this issue is matched only by the total silence from the medical profession.
Since October 2007 I have been openly calling Nicotine Replacement Products useless, a con, a scam… I have called the current DoH smoking policy a scandal, corrupt, murderous - as did Allen Carr, by the way. Recently someone remarked, after reading my book, that they were surprised that I hadn’t been sued by the people who make Nicotine Replacement Products.
I’m not. If you sue someone who has already published all the evidence that anyone with half a brain would need to see the truth of what they are saying - and then some - you just destroy your own product! Nicotine Replacement has precious little credibility as it is - if they sued me they would just become my publicity machine on a global scale, and make me the most famous hypnotherapist in the world at the same time. Not really in their interests, is it?
Eighteen months into the campaign, nearly half a million hits on the site and STILL not one doctor, nurse, pharmacist or drug company rep - and no-one from the Department of Health - has contacted us to defend NRT products or explain why current smoking policy completely flies in the face of the scientific facts.
